For AI service providers · Comparison
Claude Code vs a multi-client AI agent platform: what should providers choose?
Use Claude Code when the deliverable is code or a custom automation you will build and maintain. Evaluate a multi-client AI agent platform when you need an operating home for client work, intake and review. A coding agent can help build a service, but the provider still owns deployment, credentials and support.

Decision criteria
Apply these checks before choosing a product. Record unknowns rather than inferring a capability.
- Client boundary
- Create two Team workspaces. Confirm that people, agents and tool accounts belong to the intended workspace.
- Connected tools
- Run a read-only check against the client account. Inspect which account supplied the result.
- Review before action
- Trigger a supported action that needs approval. Cancel it and verify no change occurred.
- Recurring delivery
- Run a small scheduled job, review its output and confirm the intended recipient received it.
- Evidence and cost
- Find the run record and the relevant workspace billing. Record external provider charges separately.
- Ownership and exit
- Name the account owner, stop recurring work, revoke links and connections, and verify removed access.
Start with the job
Software development or a bespoke automation where the provider can maintain the implementation. Do not add operating software if that already meets the client’s need.
Account for ongoing delivery
For recurring client services, write down who authorizes tools, who reviews actions and how the client receives results. A capable assistant does not remove these responsibilities. Test the complete process, including a failed run and access revocation.
Use the right combination
A provider can use an assistant for design and a separate platform for operation when both are useful. Validate any connection between them. Neither a model name nor a subscription proves a multi-client service architecture.
Example provider workflow. Adapt it to the client’s agreed scope.
- 01
Build
Define or implement the client’s accepted output.
- 02
Operate
Connect the right accounts and assign review and support.
- 03
Handoff
Verify the delivered result and document the exit path.

Fit and limitations
- Good fit
- Providers whose recurring delivery needs justify dedicated operating surfaces.
- Poor fit
- Software development or a bespoke automation where the provider can maintain the implementation.
- Known limits
- Creating Team workspaces requires the owner’s Ultra plan. Workspaces are an application boundary, not a promise of dedicated databases or a compliance certification. Review records within each workspace; do not assume a unified cross-client dashboard, consolidated client billing, or full-workspace cloning.
Sources and evidence
Documentation establishes the scope of a claim. It does not replace an acceptance test in your client’s environment.

| Anthropic: Claude Code overviewVendor documentation | Claude Code is a coding tool that can read and edit files and run commands. | |
| Hosted Super Agent setupProduct documentation | Hosted agents can keep working without an open browser tab. Configuration and plan limits still apply. | |
| Customer portal operating notesProduct documentation | Upload and app-connection invitations are scoped to a selected agent. Revoking an invitation is separate from disconnecting an account. | |
| Read an agent run recordProduct documentation | Inspect available tool calls and execution details within the relevant workspace. A completed run is not proof of an accepted result. |
Questions providers ask
When is Claude Code enough?
Software development or a bespoke automation where the provider can maintain the implementation.
Does a platform replace the provider?
No. A provider still scopes, configures, reviews and supports the service.
Are subscriptions and hosting the same cost?
No. Check the current product plan and separate model, hosting and third-party charges. No numeric price comparison is made here.
Set up one client service
Set up the client workspace, connect its tools and review the first deliverable. Use a tested delivery path, such as Telegram, so the client can receive work in chat. Track operating costs and review effort before pricing a recurring service.
